A szerző röviden áttekinti néhány fertőző és nem fertőző eredetű papagájbetegség során fellépő májelváltozásokat. Ezek nagy része egyúttal más szervi elváltozásokat is előidéző megbetegedés. A papagájok májában kialakulhat vírusok, baktériumok hatására májgyulladás. Lymphoma esetén a májban is megfigyelhetők a daganatosan burjánzó vérsejtalakok. A szervezet zsírforgalmi zavarát érintő etetési hiba zsíros májelfajulást okozhat. A papagájokban nagyon gyakran kialakulhat toxikus hatásra májdystrophia, majd az ezt túlélő madarakban májcirrózis.

This paper gives a review of the infectious and noninfectious hepatic diseases of the parrots. A significant part of them makes changes in other organs, too. Agents of infectious hepatic diseases could be viruses and bacteria, both. Proliferation of neoplasatic blood cells are also found in the liver in lymphomas. Disturbances of lipid householding also effect the liver causing fatty liver degeneration. Hepatic dystrophy followed by cirrhosis is common in parrots due to toxic effects.
